The company's broad business model integrates an extensive online marketplace with cloud infrastructure services and a significant presence in digital media. Amazon is recognized for its customer-centric approach, continuous innovation, and operational efficiency, which have been pivotal in transforming industries worldwide. Its extensive global supply chain and data-driven strategies further exemplify its expansive reach and impact.

In 2023, Amazon employed approximately 1,521,000 people globally. The company demonstrated strong financial health, with reported revenues of $574.8 billion and a net income of $30.4 billion. Amazon's strategic adaptations to market trends and its leveraging of technological advancements are expected to fuel its continued growth and influence across diverse sectors
The company CDW5 is a sortation center aimed to make packages be scanned and transported out of the warehouse to be delivered



Purpose


Our project's purpose is to analyze dynamic and structured processing systems within Amazon’s CDW5 sortation center and how it’s supported through MIS. Which prioritize on package sorting, consolidation, and dispatch on delivery operations. We aim to understand CDW5’s workflows and enhancements for Amazon’s last-mile delivery operations.

 Manager Description 

The chosen Manager that we will be interviewing is, Area Manager Dre Daniel. He originally transferred to CDW5 a couple months back into CDW5 amazon to become an area manager here. The whole purpose of Daniel's job is to keep the fulfillment center running smoothly. He is there to operate around 50 people per area to do their task at hand. He operates with leading inbound and to communicate with drivers and workers to keep a steady pace at the warehouse. Area managers are also there to help the operations manager find ways to improve safety and work. 

Thesis


Thoroughly researching Amazon's operations at the CDW5 warehouse, reveals how important the integration of Management Information Systems can improve the overall operational efficiency of a warehouse. These systems optimize packaging, sorting, and track current inventory stock. Management Information Systems help Amazon keep its position as the leader in global e-commerce by analyzing key aspects like product diversity along with employee and locational metrics. 


Analyzing the company provides a brief bio of information about the company's visit, such as the size of product lines, number of employees and customers, number of locations, important processes, etc.
